Storm Basketball 2010 - Game 6

Cole Drives for the Score
Great game today, Storm!  Much like last week, the opposition came out hitting a lot of shots, and we had it tough in the early going.  However, also like last week, the Coaches made great adjustments at half-time and we really made up the ground in the second half.  There was great defense--tons of steals and blocks--which led to a lot of turnovers.  All those turnovers led to many fast break points--AND, great passing on the breaks!  All the players are showing excellent progress on looking for the open teammate.

We missed some of our players who were out of town, but we look forward to having them back next week.  We need all of our players' skills to have a complete team since everyone contributes.  Good job to all!

Thanks for all the hard work coaches and players.

Storm Basketball 2010 - Game 5

Rhett, Emma, and Chase Chillin' at Halftime
Big game today!  It looked a little rough in the beginning as the other team got a lot of early baskets on the Storm.  Coach Steele and D.J. made some great half-time adjustments, however.  The team came out much sharper in the 2nd half, playing well together, getting several fast break baskets, and keeping the other team guessing.  It ended up being a very close game in the end.

Storm Basketball 2010 - Game 4

Liam Goes Airborne on Defense
The Storm had their fourth game today and are showing a lot of progress.  Each week they work better and better as a team.  They are now screening well for each other, looking more to pass, and rebounding is getting much better.

In addition to those improvements, their defense is great.  They are always hounding the ball handler on the other team, making it very difficult to move the ball around.  If the other team doesn't get a fast break, most times they don't get a good shot.  Coaches Steele and D.J. continue to bring them along quickly.

Storm Basketball 2010 - Game 3

Emma Dribbles Through Traffic
The Storm had a great game today.  And I'm not sure what's in the water where that other team was from, but it makes them grow big.  Our guys had their hands full, playing kids quite a bit bigger a every position, but they made up for the size difference with hustle and speed.

They drew plenty of fouls and got a lot of foul shots (Click Here to See Emma Hit a Foul Shot), used their dribbling skills to evade the defense and get good looks at the basket, and harassed the other team on defense for the entire game.  They continue to progress with each game, learning their plays better and playing a great team game by screening for each other and helping out on defense (Click Here to See Parker Getting a Screen from Emma and Hitting the Shot in the Lane).

And of course, the doughnuts at the end of the game made it even better.  Thanks again to Coaches Steele and D.J. for all of their time and effort.

See below some of the highlights of the game.  Everyone is doing great, and I'll continue to work to get all the players on the list.

Storm - Off and Running (Games 1 & 2)

Boyz n the Hood
The team has already had a few games.  The first game went quite well, with the Storm starting the season off very sharp.  There was good team play and hustle (Click Here to See Ethan Get a Rebound In Traffic).  Game two was definitely tougher.  It was against a more experienced team, and we learned a lot in that game.

Please see the Team Pictures page on this blog (you'll see it right below the "Storm Basketball 2010" title above) where all the individual and team photos taken at practice on 10/5 are shown.  There were a few other individual photos taken later (See the "Alternate Team Pics" section above).  The pictures in the Alternate Team Pics section are numbered.  Please let me know the number you want (if you want the first one taken (at the rec center), then indicate #1 and we'll use that one).  This will allow us to be sure you get what you'd like at season's end.

Below are a few highlights from the game.  Hope you enjoy.
